A leading global intermodal container and logistics equipment giant in Qingdao deployed Haifeng’s 40-foot vertical reefer container foaming press station. The project was commissioned to establish an automated, monolithic side panel insulation line for standard 40ft High-Cube marine refrigerated containers.

Prior to the modernization, the manufacturer utilized horizontal casting beds. Pouring 110 kg of chemical mix horizontally across a 12.2-meter panel resulted in trapped air along the top corrugated skin and horizontal platen deflection, causing thickness deviations exceeding 3.5 mm at the center. These structural variances created thermal bridges upon container assembly, pushing total box heat leakage (U-value) past 0.38 W/(m²·K) and failing the strict ATP Class FRC international perishable transport agreement.

Haifeng engineered a complete vertical foaming cell centered on the HF-RFC40-VPR station. Featuring a 13.5-meter vertical hydraulic clamping frame and synchronous six-head impingement injection, the line eliminated horizontal platen deflection, holding 12-meter panel thickness deviations within ±0.5 mm and delivering assembled container thermal leakage coefficients of U ≤ 0.32 W/(m²·K).

Haifeng engineered an automated vertical clamping cell designed to process 12.2-meter composite panels. Exterior corrugated stainless steel sheets and interior lining plates are transferred into the vertical clamping bed, where heavy-duty hydraulic toggles lock the 13.5-meter platens under 1.2 bar continuous counter-pressure.

Raw materials—low-k cyclopentane polyol and polymeric isocyanates—are conditioned in twin 500 L jacketed tanks at 24°C under dry nitrogen blankets. Axial piston metering pumps displace chemicals at 17.0 MPa through six synchronized impingement mixing heads mounted along the bottom edge of the vertical tool.

The six heads discharge 110 kg of reactive formulation simultaneously in 24 seconds. The liquid creams and expands upward smoothly through the 70 mm vertical cavity, venting air naturally through top exhaust channels without forming pockets. Multi-circuit tempered water circulation (48°C) cures the core uniformly in 20 minutes. Following hydraulic unclamping, an overhead crane extracts the finished 12.2-meter panel, transferring it directly to container box assembly.
