The 29th China International Composites Industry Technical Exhibition concluded successfully at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai on September 3. With the theme “Thermoplastics · Green Materials · Intelligent Manufacturing at a New National Level,” the exhibition covered more than 75,000 m² and attracted 977 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions.
Although the exhibition has ended, its technology trends and process directions may remain relevant for much longer. Haifeng has specialized in polyurethane forming equipment for many years and has a mature technical system and extensive project-execution experience. We support customers throughout the process, from process-solution design to production-line implementation.

Thermoplastics · Green Materials · Intelligent Manufacturing at a New National Level
01. A closer look at polyurethane forming technologies
HP-RTM (High-Pressure Resin Transfer Molding)
▸ HP-RTM places a preform in a closed mold, injects resin under high pressure to impregnate the reinforcement and then cures it rapidly by heating. Its advantages include fast mold filling, thorough impregnation, short cycle times, stable processing and excellent part-surface quality. A typical part cycle is approximately 3–5 minutes, supporting mass production of complex 3D structures. HP-RTM is a proven rapid-forming route for applications such as automotive structural components and aerospace parts.
▸ Haifeng has mature capabilities in HP-RTM equipment design and integration. We provide customized system solutions based on each customer’s requirements for part cycle time, injection accuracy and mold compatibility. Related equipment is operating in volume production at multiple automotive-component and composite-product manufacturers.
LFI (Long-Fiber Injection)
▸ The LFI process cuts continuous roving into fixed-length short fibers and injects them together with a mixture of isocyanate, polyol and catalyst into a temperature-controlled mold. The process is suitable for complex polyurethane parts that combine lightweight construction with mechanical performance. Typical applications include instrument panels, interior panels and vehicle floor pans. As automotive lightweighting continues, LFI has found stable applications thanks to its design flexibility and forming efficiency.
▸ Haifeng’s independently developed LFI long-fiber injection system precisely matches fiber-cutting length to injection flow, helping distribute fibers uniformly in the mold and maintain consistent mechanical properties. The system has been successfully delivered for applications including commercial-vehicle interiors and engineering-machinery covers.
SRIM (Structural Reaction Injection Molding)
▸ SRIM combines features of reaction injection molding (RIM) and resin transfer molding (RTM). Fiber reinforcement is placed in the mold cavity before reactive resin is injected for rapid curing and forming. The process supports high production rates while maintaining structural mechanical properties, making it a balanced solution for the batch production of structural parts where both performance and efficiency matter.
▸ Haifeng has accumulated practical experience with SRIM. Our process data and commissioning capabilities cover resin-injection flow control, mold temperature-field management and compatibility with fast-curing resin systems. We can provide technical support throughout the process, from mold-solution review to production ramp-up.
FCS (Fiber Composite Spraying)
▸ The FCS process applies polyurethane and fiber materials in layers. It does not require a mold frame; a simple female mold is sufficient, keeping initial investment relatively low. The process is flexible and suitable for small-batch production and large visible components. It has potential applications in commercial vehicles, architectural decoration and furniture, particularly for products requiring stiffness and flexural strength.
▸ Haifeng’s FCS spraying system uses a modular design. Multiple rounds of refinement have optimized fiber-cutting precision, spray-gun mixing uniformity and spray-path planning, helping customers achieve good part stiffness and surface quality at a relatively low initial investment.

Equipment capabilities focused on polyurethane innovation
These four processes address diverse needs, from high-performance structural parts to complex interior components and from small-batch customization to large-scale production. Drawing on project experience and technical expertise, Haifeng can supply equipment, commission processes and integrate production lines for each of these technologies.
The spotlight of an industry exhibition eventually fades, but technical innovation and industrial upgrading continue. As manufacturing moves toward intelligent, greener and more advanced production, reliable equipment remains essential. We will continue to apply our technical expertise and deliver stable, high-quality products to provide valuable process solutions for industry partners.
