A leading municipal infrastructure development authority in Northern China deployed Haifeng’s mobile dual-circuit waterproofing spray trucks to construct seamless elastomeric barriers across 48,000 m² of concrete expansion joints and roof decks in a multi-compartment utility tunnel network.
Prior to the deployment, the project experienced severe groundwater intrusion across structural settlement joints. Legacy preformed bituminous sheet membranes tore when differential ground settling produced dynamic movements exceeding 1.5 mm, while high subterranean air humidity prevented conventional liquid primers from curing properly, allowing water to track behind the membrane.
Haifeng deployed two HF-TUN120-MOB integrated mobile spray trucks engineered for subterranean access. By combining infrared surface flash-drying, moisture-tolerant priming, and high-pressure impingement spraying of high-elongation pure polyurea (≥ 450%), the team constructed an impermeable barrier bridging 2.0 mm joint movements and withstanding 0.5 MPa hydrostatic pressure heads.
Solutions Delivery
Haifeng engineered an integrated mobile deployment capable of navigating narrow 2.5-meter tunnel bays. The self-propelled vehicle drives along the concrete floor while front-mounted short-wave quartz infrared lamps flash-dry damp joint bevels, lowering substrate surface moisture below 6%.
Immediately behind the drying bank, an integrated medium-pressure circuit applies a moisture-tolerant penetrating epoxy primer, sealing microscopic concrete pores. Ten minutes later, the vehicle’s high-pressure hydraulic proportioning skid displaces pure polyurea components at 17.5 MPa through 65°C heated fluid lines.
Technicians operate mechanical-purge spray guns to apply a seamless 2.0 mm elastomeric membrane across expansion joint details and concrete sidewalls. The formulation gels in 15 seconds, eliminating running or sagging on vertical concrete walls. The cured lining achieves an ultimate tensile elongation greater than 450%, easily accommodating dynamic joint displacement without debonding. The entire application was executed without venting toxic solvents inside the confined tunnel compartments.
