A leading national non-ferrous metal mining corporation in Jiangxi partnered with Haifeng to establish a specialized casting facility for heavy-duty slurry pump polyurethane volute liners. The project was commissioned to supply replacement elastomeric wet-end wear liners for 750-type flotation slurry pumps operating in massive copper concentration circuits.
Prior to this installation, the concentrator utilized traditional Cr26 high-chromium white cast iron liners. Weighing over 950 kg per set, these rigid metallic liners suffered from rapid localized pitting and erosion, wearing through within 90 operating days under the combined action of aggressive acidic slurries and sharp quartz particles. Frequent unscheduled shutdowns averaged 6 times annually, costing significant mineral throughput.
Haifeng engineered a heavy-duty centrifugal casting cell centered on the HF-CPU250-CF system. By introducing NDI prepolymer formulations via an extended 2.2-meter servo-actuated pouring boom into high-speed spinning volute molds (850 RPM), the brief describes a 380 kg liner set and reports a long-term wear comparison whose follow-up dates require reconciliation with the February 2026 acceptance.
Solutions Delivery
Haifeng engineered a complete heavy-part casting cell designed for large-volume NDI polyurethane processing. High-purity NDI prepolymers are heated to 125°C inside a 250 L thermal oil-jacketed stainless vessel under continuous 0.05 kPa vacuum degassing to strip micro-air bubbles and moisture.
The chemical components are displaced by high-displacement servo gear pumps monitored by dual Coriolis mass flow meters, holding mix ratios within ±0.2%. The materials are thoroughly homogenized inside a high-shear dynamic mixing head mounted on an extended 2.2-meter three-axis servo pouring boom.
Before pouring, the 750-type heavy cast steel volute mold (preheated to 110°C) is clamped onto a dynamic-balanced centrifugal turntable rotating at 850 RPM. The servo boom enters deep into the asymmetrical mold cavity, progressively discharging 380 kg of reactive NDI formulation within a filling window requiring reconciliation with the 25 kg/min maximum. High centrifugal force compresses the dense polymer against outer casing walls, driving residual air inward to eliminate voids. After 20 minutes of spinning cure, the liner is demolded and transferred to an annealing oven for final crosslinking.
