Haifeng successfully engineered and commissioned a high-output Reaction Injection Molding (RIM) dosing system for a major commercial vehicle manufacturer in China, achieving a 45% weight reduction for heavy-duty truck front bumpers while significantly enhancing structural impact resistance. The delivery encompassed a specialized high-capacity dual-component polyurethane metering unit with an onboard industrial PLC control cabinet, dynamic mold temperature conditioning skids, and digital interface synchronization designed to seamlessly integrate with the client's existing large-platen hydraulic clamping press.
Prior to commissioning, the manufacturer relied heavily on conventional stamped steel bumpers and generic injection-molded plastics. Heavy steel components imposed severe tare-weight penalties on commercial fleets, while standard thermoplastics suffered catastrophic brittle cracking under gravel impact during freezing winter operations down to -40°C. The client required an industrial-scale dispensing platform capable of processing high-flow elastomeric polyurethane formulations, maintaining laminar cavity filling across broad cross-sections (spanning 4mm to 8mm), and cutting capital tooling expenditures by half compared to metal stamping dies.
Operational since November 2024 on a continuous two-shift production schedule across a 320 m² footprint, the installation ensures high-cadence commercial vehicle output. By deploying Haifeng's closed-loop Ratio Lock flow regulation and self-cleaning high-pressure impingement heads, the client consistently manufactures rugged, corrosion-resistant exterior bumpers capable of enduring harsh on-road and off-road freight conditions.

Solutions Delivery
Haifeng deployed a heavy-capacity high-pressure RIM dosing architecture engineered for large-volume cavity filling and rapid-curing elastomeric polyurethanes, achieving end-to-end structural consistency across large commercial vehicle components:
1. High-Output Stoichiometric Ratio Lock: Heavy-duty axial piston pumps driven by servo systems meter polyol and isocyanate at large output volumes with ±0.5% stoichiometric precision, ensuring void-free filling of large-volume bumper cavities.
2. Dual-Zone Thermal Fluid Management: Dynamic multi-stage heat exchangers actively stabilize raw precursor temperatures within ±0.8°C, preventing flow hesitation across long mold flow paths.
3. Large-Platen Press Interface Synchronization: The onboard PLC system digitally interfaces with the client’s existing hydraulic press, coordinating multi-stage low-pressure clamping ramps and tilt-demolding sequences to prevent part deformation.
4. Solvent-Free Self-Cleaning Impingement Mixing: An industrial L-shaped high-pressure mixing head executes instantaneous 0.3-second clean cut-offs, completely eliminating solvent flushes and keeping continuous production lines clean.
Implementation & Training:
– Installation & Commissioning Timeline: 16 days from equipment alignment and hydraulic piping to full mechanical load trials and press interlocking.
– Operator Training: 3 days covering high-flow calibration, recipe adjustments, head maintenance, and seal safety routines for plant operators.
– Key Commissioning Milestones: Dry-run pressure checks, high-volume shot weight verification, mold thermal mapping, and first-article impact resistance sign-off.
