Vacuum Bag Only Prepreg Production Solution

Plan VBO manufacturing with an out-of-autoclave-qualified prepreg, controlled bagging and an oven cure.

Production objective

Build the Process Around Your Product

Plan VBO manufacturing with an out-of-autoclave-qualified prepreg, controlled bagging and an oven cure.

Product and material first

Start with the finished-product drawing, material system and acceptance requirements. The process route and equipment configuration are assessed together.

Capacity across the whole process

Define output with preparation, forming/reaction, curing, handling and inspection included. The slowest stage and product changes determine practical line capacity.

The supply package can coordinate material handling, vacuum, oven, tooling and inspection interfaces. Liquid metering is optional only where a separate resin stage is specified.

Manufacturing workflow

From Preparation to Qualified Product

A planning sequence for the specified route. Final settings and acceptance conditions are established through material and part review.

01

Choose a VBO-qualified system

Review prepreg data, laminate thickness, tool design and acceptance requirements.

SETTINGS CONFIRMED FOR THE SELECTED MATERIAL AND PRODUCT
02

Prepare material and layup

Control storage/out-time and place the specified ply stack.

03

Bag and verify vacuum

Arrange bagging consumables and verify leak performance before cure.

Engineering inputs

Information Needed to Configure the Line

Provide these inputs so the equipment range, interfaces and validation plan can be defined.

Design inputInformation required
MaterialVBO qualification, storage/out-time and cure schedule
Laminate/toolPly stack, thickness and thermal behavior
Vacuum/ovenLeak criteria, monitoring and temperature uniformity
AcceptanceVoid, dimension and part-test requirements
This table is a design brief, not a machine performance guarantee. Rated values are confirmed in the project proposal with their material and operating conditions.
Project design

Coordinate the Equipment With the Process

Evaluate repeatability, handling and acceptance across the full workflow.

Material-specific configuration

Component circuits, thermal control, mixing and receiving equipment are matched to the approved chemistry and processing window.

Defined interfaces

The supply package can coordinate material handling, vacuum, oven, tooling and inspection interfaces. Liquid metering is optional only where a separate resin stage is specified.

Documented acceptance

The proposal defines trials, process records, inspection responsibilities and product-specific acceptance conditions.

Planning questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Clarify the production route before selecting a machine.

Can any autoclave prepreg be cured by VBO? +
VBO requires a material and laminate process qualified for vacuum-bag-only consolidation. Removing autoclave pressure does not automatically yield equivalent quality.
What information is needed to size the production line? +
Share the finished-product drawing or sample, material supplier data, target output per shift or hour, automation requirements and factory conditions. Product changes, cure residence and downstream handling must be included in the capacity review.
What is included in the equipment package? +
The supply package can coordinate material handling, vacuum, oven, tooling and inspection interfaces. Liquid metering is optional only where a separate resin stage is specified.
Are cycle time and finished-product performance fixed? +
They are established for the selected material, geometry, tooling and acceptance tests. The proposal identifies target conditions and the validation needed before a final performance commitment.
