Haifeng successfully engineered and commissioned an automated polyurethane integral skin molding line for a premier Chinese automotive steering system supplier, achieving 100% molecular coating adhesion with In-Mold Coating (IMC) and stabilizing demold cycles down to 120 seconds. The project delivered high-precision high-pressure metering units, dynamic chemical conditioning loops, and digital interface coordination for the customer's multi-station tilting mold clamping units.
Prior to commissioning, the manufacturer used secondary post-demold spray painting for steering wheel rims. The painted coatings suffered from peel-off and blistering when exposed to driver hand perspiration and solar heat, while manual paint handling created VOC hazards. The customer required an automated high-pressure processing system compatible with water-based in-mold coatings, ensuring exact ±0.5% stoichiometric ratio locking, low-cavity-pressure air venting, and consistent microcellular core density.
Operating since September 2025 on a continuous two-shift production schedule across a 220 m² footprint, the workcell delivers consistent component repeatability. By implementing Haifeng's closed-loop Ratio Lock flow algorithms and anti-drip impingement heads, the client consistently manufactures luxury, wear-resistant steering wheels meeting strict OEM tactile and durability specifications.

Solutions Delivery
Haifeng deployed a high-pressure integral skin molding platform engineered for fast-reacting elastomeric formulations:
1. Precision Stoichiometric Ratio Lock: Servo-driven axial piston pumps meter precursors with ±0.5% accuracy, ensuring reproducible skin-to-core density gradients.
2. Tilting Clamp Synchronization: The master PLC digitally interfaces with the clamping press, executing multi-angle tilting (up to 45°) to vent mold air smoothly during injection.
3. Dual-Zone Thermal Stability: Dynamic TCU loops maintain upper and lower mold platens within ±0.5°C, ensuring uniform skin curing against IMC layers.
4. Clean Mechanical Needle Cut-Off: An L-shaped self-cleaning high-pressure mixing head executes instantaneous 0.3s shut-offs without chemical solvent flushes.
