Haifeng successfully engineered and commissioned an automated semi-rigid polyurethane structural component molding workcell for a premier commercial furniture manufacturer in Brazil, achieving an optimal 85 kg/m³ load-bearing core density while stabilizing demold cycles down to 90 seconds. The turnkey delivery encompassed a high-pressure dual-component metering machine, dynamic mold temperature conditioning units, pneumatic rapid-clamping fixtures, and integrated safety controls.
Prior to commissioning, the manufacturer assembled structural padded headboards and sofa borders by manually gluing low-density slabstock foam around plywood sub-frames. Under sustained hospitality hotel use, the soft foam collapsed completely over the underlying wood corners, exposing sharp edges and causing severe guest complaints. The client required an industrial chemical molding solution capable of encapsulating welded steel frames inside high-damping semi-rigid microcellular foam, preventing bottoming-out while providing a plush, resilient feel.
Operating since April 2018 on a two-shift daily schedule across a 260 m² bay, the workcell delivers consistent component repeatability. By implementing Haifeng's closed-loop Ratio Lock flow algorithms and anti-drip impingement heads, the client reliably manufactures heavy-duty structural padded components complying with stringent hospitality furniture load standards.
Project Technical Specification Matrix:

Solutions Delivery
Haifeng deployed a high-pressure reaction injection platform engineered for semi-rigid structural formulations:
1. Precision Stoichiometric Metering: Servo-driven axial displacement pumps meter precursors at up to 180 bar with ±0.5% precision, ensuring uniform density without soft pockets.
2. Pneumatic Rapid-Clamping Fixtures: Customized heavy mold fixtures hold aluminum tooling firmly against expanding cavity pressure, fitted with permanent magnetic armature locators.
3. Dual-Circuit Thermal Stability: Dynamic TCU loops maintain upper and lower mold halves within ±0.5°C, ensuring uniform foaming kinetics around internal metal inserts.
4. Clean Mechanical Needle Cut-Off: An L-shaped self-cleaning high-pressure mixing head executes instantaneous 0.3s shut-offs without chemical solvent flushes.
Installation and commissioning: 16 days. Operator training: 3 days. Warranty: 1 year. Long-term spare parts and remote PLC diagnostic support are available.
